Code Adds Enhanced Age Verification Features to the CR5000
Code launches an interactive, web-based CR5000AV Configuration Tool

Salt Lake City, UT – January 13, 2016 – Code, a leading developer of image-based barcode reading technology, today announced an enhanced age verification solution for the CR5000 presentation reader. The enhancements include an interactive, web-based CR5000AV Configuration Tool and a unique software lock feature to prevent tampering with the reader’s settings.

Designed specifically to protect retailers from giving unauthorized access to age-restricted merchandise, the CR5000AV quickly and reliably determines customer eligibility by decoding barcoded AAMVA-compliant driver licenses and military identification cards.

The new web-based Configuration Tool provides an easy-to-use solution for retailers to generate a customized barcode to configure the CR5000AV to process numerous age-restricted products with varied legal age requirements. Using the same Configuration Tool, retailers can create a password to lock their reader, giving retailers an additional level of security by preventing unauthorized modifications to the reader’s settings.

"We expanded the capabilities of the CR5000AV to meet retailers’ evolving security requirements without the burden of complicated setup,” said John Deal, Director of Product Management at Code. "Our age verification solution gives retailers a simple, cost-effective way to reduce age-restricted infractions without compromising customer service.”

The CR5000AV is a powerful solution that can serve the dual purpose of point-of-sale barcode reading and age verification. It has the additional flexibility to serve as a stand-alone solution that does not require a PC or manual management of data to alert a clerk of an underage patron.

For a demonstration of the CR5000AV, visit Code in booth 1027 at the National Retail Federation (NRF) Big Show, January 17-19 in New York City. Additional product information can be found at http://www.codecorp.com.
