In December 2020, Code Corporation submitted the CR2700 family of barcode readers to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) for the purpose of achieving Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) certification. We are pleased to announce that the CR2700 barcode scanners have received FIPS certification. This NIST designation indicates that Code’s CR2700 products reach levels of secure encryption ensuring security and interoperability through data encryption. This confirms that Code’s validated products are government approved for use in facilities under governmental management.

As a result of this certification, Code’s products are now available for procurement by government medical facilities such as the Veterans Administration, military hospitals, and other government healthcare facilities. Code’s NIST certification can be found in the NIST database by searching for #3389.

"Code partnered with industry experts to secure the FIPS certification," said Ryan Hoobler, VP of Engineering for Code Corporation. "We worked closely with invaluable partners such as wolfSSL, a proven software development company with a validated encryption library. The implementation of that library was tested by renowned corporate security firm Corsec. Code can proudly state we maintain the highest integrity of FIPS implementation."

In addition to the FIPS security, the CR2700 line also features CodeShield® Level 3 disinfectant ready plastics on the light grey version; Bluetooth® 5 LE; IP65 Ingress Protection Rating; ergonomic design; Smart Battery technology with visual fuel gauge; visual, audible, and haptic feedback indicators; multiple programmable buttons; CortexRM® Remote Management ready; patented dual-field optics; and patented glare reduction.

FIPS CR2700 solution demo kits are available for testing and evaluation purposes by visiting www.codecorp.com/fips.
