Tips for FIPS! img

With our FIPS-certified CR2700 package now available for sale, you can get $27 "tips" for each FIPS package you sell!

What is FIPS Cryptography?

FIPS stands for the Federal Information Processing Standard established by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), for use in computer systems for the purpose of ensuring security and interoperability through data encryption. This encryption utilizes government-tested cryptography implemented in the transmission of data.

Why Encryption Matters

Data security via encryption is a standard part of every Code product, hardware, and software. This standard keeps data private and secure. With FIPS Validation, this encryption improves and is more robust. Additionally, this validation qualifies our FIPS solution products as government-approved for use in facilities under govern-mental management.

How is FIPS 140-2 used by Code?

We have worked with our invaluable partner wolfSSL a proven software development company with a validated encryption library to implement the best FIPS encryption. See the wolfCrypt NIST certificate details. We even took the extra step of testing our library implementation with the renowned corporate security firm Corsec. Code proudly stands behind our FIPS implementation and we look forward to working with the agencies that will benefit from such airtight security.

Code's FIPS Solutions

CR2700 is the center of our FIPS Solution

The CR2700 is Code’s fourth-generation healthcare barcode reader, combining nearly twenty years of market experience with new features to improve patient care. We took unparalleled scanning performance and stepped it up a notch, tackling even more damaged and poorly printed barcodes to keep nurses moving.

Worried about infection control? The CR2700 is your answer! With the introduction of wireless (inductive) charging, Code has eliminated any exposed metal. Combined with seamless construction, the IP65 rating, and top-of-the-line CodeShield® plastics, the CR2700 can be quickly and completely wiped down with even the harshest chemicals.

The CR2700 introduces Bluetooth® 5 to healthcare scanning—increasing data transmission security. By implementing a low-energy radio, Code has extended the battery life to minimize downtime during shifts. A built-in gauge tells users when it's time to change the battery, which can quickly be swapped for a fresh one, getting nurses right back to caring for patients. The CR2700 can also be paired with a Bluetooth Dongle—providing easy setup and reliable communication with a host PC while allowing the scanner to be charged elsewhere.
